Luke 15:11-32

 

 

THE STORY

(Luke 15:11-32)

 

  • The younger son…
    • …went his own way.  (verses 12-16)

 

  • The Father…
    • let him go.  (verse 12)

 

  • The older son…
    • …stayed and worked.

 

 

  • The younger son…
    • returned to the Father.  (verses 17-20)
    • repented to the Father.  (verse 21)

 

  • The Father…
    • sought out His wayward son.  (verse 20)
    • received him with great compassion.  (verse 20)
    • restored him as His son.  (verses 22-24)

 

  • The older son…
    • …was still working.  (verse 25)

 

 

  • The younger son…
    • enjoyed the Father’s restoration.  (verse 24)

 

  • The Father…
    • …sought out the working son.  (verses 28, 31-32)

 

  • The older son…
    • resented the celebration for his younger brother.  (verses 28-30)
    • ...when confronted with the Father’s plea…

 

 

THE LESSON

 

  • Gaze in awe at the beauty of our Heavenly Father’s extravagant grace and tender compassion.   
    • Reflect His grace and compassion to others.

 

  • Heaven throws a party when sinners repent.
    • Celebrate with joy when Jesus saves lives!

 

  • Jesus continues to pursue the lost.
    • Join Jesus in His pursuit.
