The Dishonest Manager

THE STORY

 

  • The manager was…  (verses 1-3)

 

  • …dishonest.

 

  • …wasteful.

 

  • ...in big trouble!

 

  • The manager came up with a plan and carried it out.  (verses 4-7)

 

  • He did what he could with the short time he had.

 

  • He set himself up for the future.

 

  • The master said, “Good thinking!”  (verse 8a)

 

 

THE LESSON

 

  • People who have no concern for eternity do a great job preparing for their future on earth.  (verse 8b)

 

  • Disciples of Jesus should be even more diligent in preparing for their eternal future.  (verse 8b)

 

  • Use money for the good of others.  (verse 9)

 

  • God owns it all—we are stewards.  (verses 10-12)

 

  • Serve God, not money.  (verse 13)
