Romans 6:15-7:6

EVERYONE HAS A MASTER

(6:15-23)

 

  • There are only two options:
    • Slaves to sin.
    • Slaves to obedience / righteousness / God.

 

  • There are two kinds of fruit in this life:
    • Shame
    • Sanctification

 

  • There are two ultimate outcomes:
    • Wages earned: death
    • A gift received: eternal life

 

 

HOW ABOUT A MARRIAGE ANALOGY?

(7:1-6)

 

  • Marriage is binding until death.

 

  • The law is binding until death.

 

  • We have died to the law in Christ.
    • Not to be “single.”
    • But to belong to another—Jesus Christ.

 

 

CONCLUSIONS:

 

  • God is our good Master—why would we sin?

 

  • We are the bride of Christ, we live to please our Groom.
  • We are the bride of Christ, we live to please our Groom.
